He created, produced and directed "PERO, ESTO QUÉ ES?" for TVE. It was an ambitious programme, (robot-computer-interviewer, interactive cartoons, the innovation of the Spanish "spitting image”), essentially based on humour and a selected national and international music, it achieved a good audience and very good reviews within the critic. Sections as "EL TEST DE LOLA" (with the voice of MARISA NARANJO) in which a robot interviewed the guests helped by MANOLO FERRERAS obtained a great impact. Or the section of the “muñegotes”* in "EL PARIDOR NACIONAL", in which dolls like "Spittin Image" made parody of the politicians of the moment with the voices of LUIS FIGUEROLA-FERRETTI, JAVIER CAPITÁN and BEATRIZ CARVAJAL.
Other successful section in the programme was "CANAL PRIVADO". It was like a TV channel (directed by an Italian Mafioso) in which famous people were interviewed through a comedy. ALFONSO LUSÓN, PAULA SEBASTIÁN, ELISA MATILLA, CHRIS HUERTA, JULIO ESCALADA, ALEJANDRA GREPI and PALOMA CELA featured it .
A very successful section was "QUÉ HORRORÓSCOPO " featured by ELOY ARENAS.
There was also a section for old people, it was a humour section “FAITH AND HOPE” with scripts from FERNANDO LEÓN DE ARANOA , FERNANDO EIRAS and ROBERTO. With the performance of AURORA REDONDO and MARÍA ISBERT. It was about the problems two spinsters had trying to get up to date on the technology in current world.
There was a section for dancing music wit live orchestra directed by NACHO DOGAN "Dogans Club". When Nacho unexpectedly died, they included a section to his honour "NACHO’S CORNER” with the music he liked best. No one presented that section.
There was also a section "La Copla", in which MATÍAS PRAT presented the NO-DO (newsreel) news and the performances of new song stresses.
It had a permanent section called "GODOY’S DIVAN" The Uruguayan humorist GODOY was always laid down on a psychiatrist’s divan. He confessed to her every week, but we could only see her beautiful legs.
But the great impact was the section called "Esto es una Cruz, esto es una raya...." featured by the novel CRUZ Y RAYA, they imitated famous people and singers in a false radio station, accompanied by the musician and composer VÍCTOR REYES.
Another novelty was a cartoon character, a rabbit girl called VICKY, who interplayed with the presenters every week in a sketch.
Some humorists got to be well known in this programme such as ANGEL GARÓ, PEPE VIYUELA, CRUZ Y RAYA, FAEMINO Y CANSADO, PEDRO REYES, FÉLIX EL GATO, and some other who were starting over got their audience confirmation, as LOS MORANCOS or LAS VIRTUDES.
PEDRO REYES, BEATRIZ SANTANA and LUIS MERLO presented the programme during its first stage. JACQUELINE DE LA VEGA and GUILLERMO MONTESINO did in its second stage and JACQUELINE DE LA VEGA together with the Venezuelan serial actor CARLOS MATA during its last stage.
Music was very important for this programme, the most famous international artists of the moment performed in it, among so many others were LIZA MINELLI, PHIL COLLIN, TEXAS, WITNEY HOUSTON, JANET JACKSON, JOE COCKER, ROXETTE, WOMACK AND WOMACK.
In 1990 Hugo Stuven was invited to DISNEYWORLD by Disney’s President MICHAEL EISNER to record all the presentations for a Christmas Programme in DISNEYWORLD Florida USA. He travelled together with all the Production staff, make-up, hairdressing and artists from TVE (Jacqueline de la Vega, Carlos Mata, Elisa Matilla and Pepe Viyuela) and he used the technical equipment of Disney’s BUENA VISTA PRODUCTIONS for the recording. He obtained an original Programme in Disney, Florida inside the programme "Pero¿ésto qué es?” (But, what is this?).
They achieved such a success that no one stayed indifferent, neither followers, nor detractors. The programme stayed within the first audience positions for two years, it was only some time beaten by some films (see press from 1989.1990 and 1991). KRIS KRISTOFFESON and CAMARÓN DE LA ISLA were in the last broadcast in 1991.
"CALIENTE" (“HOT”) for TVE. Once ha had finished with "Pero ¿ésto qué es?" he created together with the brothers OSCAR and JORGE GÓMEZ (BAT DISCOS) the programme "Caliente". It was a series of 13 music Shows for the 1991 summer with the performance of all the Latin artists and salsa singers as PAPO LUCAS, EDIE PALMIERI, SANTANA, CELIA CRUZ Y TITO PUENTE, OSCAR D’LEÓN, JUAN LUIS GUERRA Y 4:40,CHEO FELICIANO, JOHNNY PACHECO, TITO NIEVES besides some Spanish artists such as ANA BELÉN, MIGUEL BOSÉ GABINETE CALIGARI, MECANO and many other.
ANA GARCÍA OBREGÓN presented for the first time a TV programme together with RODY ARAGÓN and FOFITO. Rody and Fofito made the sketches for the programme. 18 Venezuelan dancers were employed for this programme, they delighted Madrid’s audience. “Caliente" was co-directed by Oscar and Jorge Gómez and Hugo Stuven, this was also the producer.
He was commissioned again to carry out the campaign “ALL AGAINST FIRE” by the same Advertising Agency. Hugo asked JOAN MANUEL SERRAT to participate in this campaign and sing for the spot. The institutional music arrangements were performed by the prestigious BIBILONI.
From this point, he started producing advertising and programmes with his own Production Company for different channels and organizations:
