He started working for Television Española as Assistant Director in different Programmes. He was set assistant director with ENRIQUE MARTÍ MAQUEDA in programmes such as ANTENA INFANTIL, LOS CHIRIPITIFLÁUTICOS, ZOO-LOCO, JARDILÍN and some other. Then he worked as Assistant Director under the direction of MANUEL AGUADO in dramatic series such as "El Señor García" "La Malquerida" and as Assistant with ALFREDO CASTELLÓN. From 1967 to 1971 he became PILAR MIRÓ’s Assistant and at the end of 1971 he moved to 5 hours lasting Sunday programmes called "Programmes Omnibus" as PEDRO AMALIO LÓPEZ’s Assistant in "SIEMPRE EN DOMINGO", later known as "TODO ES POSIBLE EN DOMINGO" , and last in "TARDE PARA TODOS" produced by FERNANDO NAVARRETE. He collaborated as Fernando Navarrete’s Assistant in Today 14:05 directed and presented by JOSE MARÍA IÑIGO daily in TVE and later in DIRECTÍSSIMO. He also acted as PEDRO BALDIE’s Assistant in Benidorm’s Festival in 1973.
He won in 1970 together with Roberto LLamas ("Las siemprevivas se marchitan en Otoño) and Rodolfo Hernández de Parayuelo,(La escalera) a Prize for the three best scripts to be broadcasted in "Pequeño Estudio". Stuven’s script, "THÁNATOS" was performed by Ana María Vidal, Fernando Cebrián and José Vivó, directed by Hugo and produced by Pilar Miró, whose assistant Stuven was at that moment. The script received highly favourable reviews from the most important TV critic in Spain, Enrique del Corral in ABC on September 20th 1970.
He met FERNANDO JIMÉNEZ DEL OSO in 1976, this presented a short section in the Sunday programme "Siempre en Domingo", once this programme is removed, they both present to the Director of Segunda Cadena a new series to be presented and directed by JIMENEZ DEL OSO named "MÁS ALLÁ". Although Hugo Stuven was the producer, he could not feature so, therefore he signed as advisor and co-scriptwriter. "Más Allá" had a great impact and a good reception though it was relegated in the UHF or Segunda Cadena (consult newspapers of the time).
He got in 1977 his first Programme as Producer: "VOCES A 45" broadcasted on Sundays in TVE after the Telediario (News) (15:30 h) live and presented by PEPE DOMINGO CASTAÑO. It lasted between half an hour and 45 minutes (depending on the duration of the news). Basque, Catalonian and Galician groups and singers could sing for the first time in their own languages in this Programme.
Once the series “VOCES A 45" was removed and also in 1977, he was commissioned to produce the music section in "300 MILLONES ", a programme to be broadcasted in Spanish America too.
In 1977 the Producer PÍO NÚÑEZ took him to United States to carry out a pilot programme, which would later become the series "LAS VEGAS LAS VEGAS", this was entirely recorded in Nevada featuring artists such as DIONNE WARWICK, AL STEWART, SERRANITO and DANNY DANIEL at the MGM HOTEL. The pilot programme was broadcasted by TVE and Pío Nuñez was commissioned to make the series a year later. At that moment, JOSÉ LUIS URRIBARRI and SOLLY VODORASKY had already offered Stuven the possibility of carrying out a new music programme called “APLAUSO”, which would be broadcasted that summer. |
